Pamber Forest was a new area and a new map, which we have not had for a few years.
From the comments I heard it was a good orienteering area with very few brashings. It brought some challenges, not least car-parking,
but we are very grateful for the use of the two fields that we had on the day. Other challenges were the little cows who trashed
a map box and had to be gently moved on before the string course could be set out. We were assured they were very
people-friendly and so it proved.
I would like to thank all those who helped make this event a success, not least Eric our planner and Katy who kept me on the right
track as our controller.
We hope you enjoyed your run around this new area, and thank the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust for their permission.
Some of you may have seen the drifts of wild daffodils on the southern edge. If you would like to know more about this wildlife
reserve or the Trust, do visit their website

Although planner, I was also the surveyor and cartographer using OCAD 9 to produce the map. I started in March 2008
and spent on average 2 days a week. I was still doing this work in between planning right up to day of printing.
My main concern was whether I got the light green / slow run screen right, as it was also quite runnable, so I erred on caution
and decided to keep in what you saw. Any comments would be appreciated.
The forest is continually being farmed, and as such felling created open areas that made the map out of date straight away.
I don’t think this caused any difficulties however. I hope everyone enjoyed their courses.
